Kodak Portra 400 is an ISO 400/27° daylight-balanced professional colour negative films introduced in 1998 and made originally for portrait and wedding applications. This means that it is known as a mid-speed film, and will be able to take photos in most common lighting situations. Timeless Elegance: Portra 400 captures life's moments with a timeless elegance that transcends trends. They mention that it's an excellent product, the pictures are sharp and beautiful, and the tones are great.

As you can see from the photos above, I shot these under completely different conditions from the shots I took at the wedding.

Step into the world of breathtaking colour accuracy and timeless elegance with KODAK Portra 400 35mm film. With a fine grain structure and excellent sharpness, this film is a favourite among professional and amateur photographers alike. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

Since 1976, we have developed literally millions of rolls of film with experienced lab professionals and film enthusiasts. This film essentially combined the old NC (natural colour) and VC (vivid colour) versions while incorporating some technical advances from the Kodak Vision motion picture films. The Kodak Portra 400 Colour Film / 120 is a colour negative film great for portraits, fashion and commercial shoots. Kodak Portra 400 120 Professional Roll Film, uses Kodak T-Grain technology and allows photographs to be greatly enlarged whilst keeping all the benefits of the film.Versatility: Kodak Portra 400 film is suitable for a wide range of applications, including portraits, landscapes, and everyday scenes. iso is a great in-between – it’s great for our outdoor shooting as well as shooting in lower light and for being a 400 iso film it has a very fine grain that’s barely noticeable when exposed properly. The 2010 Portra 400 update also incorporated technology from Kodak’s VISION line of motion picture films (see listings below). While I cannot help but get a bit cynical every time someone claims to be the world's best in anything, I must say that I am, in fact, impressed at how fine the grain is on the Portra 400. WE HAVE BEEN PROVIDING PHOTO PROCESSING SERVICES SINCE 1983 AND HAVE THE EXPERIENCE, EQUIPMENT AND EXPERTISE TO GIVE YOU THE BEST QUALITY RESULTS ON TRADITIONAL, SILVER HALIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC PAPER (NOT INKJET! Medium Format Magic: Designed for 120 roll film cameras, this film lets you explore the world of medium format photography.

As a part of Kodak's line of Professional color film rolls, the Portra 400 retails for higher than its counterparts in Kodak's line of Everyday Film, like the Gold 200 and Ultramax 400. Whether you’re using an external light meter, or the one built in to the camera, you need to adjust the ISO on it so you get accurate readings. Either way, finding good and interesting light is going to be a huge step in capturing a great photo.
